CAUSES OF BAD BREATH

Even if you practice a strict dental care regimen, that doesn’t mean your breath is minty fresh. There are many people that have bad breath, and they don’t realize they do until someone brings it to their attention. Once they know, they can do something about it. It is a common affliction, so in most cases, it can be dealt with in a variety of ways.

WHAT CAUSES BAD BREATH?

There are a number of reasons that a person could have bad breath. Once they know what the problem is, they can begin to change it.

HERE ARE SOME COMMON REASONS:

1. When a person hasn’t been to the dentist in awhile, they could have decaying teeth and/or gum disease. They will need to visit their dentist for dental care to have their teeth checked and cleaned on a regular basis in order to solve the problem.

2. A person may have eaten something that has a strong odour to it. When they eat garlic or onions, it can leave a person with bad breath. It is best to chew a piece of sugarless gum or have a breath mint after the meal to help stop the odour.

3. As people get older, they might develop bad breath. A reminder to brush and floss regularly will go a long way to make sure the problem is kept under control.

4. In many cases, medications can cause someone to have bad breath. It depends on what type of medications they are taking. If they feel there is a real cause for concern, they should discuss this with their doctor.

TAKING GOOD CARE OF TEETH AND GUMS

In order to have fresh breath, people need to remember to brush twice a day, and they should floss once a day, preferably at night before they go to bed. They can also use a good mouthwash to make sure that their breath is fresh when they have an appointment or another commitment that they need to go to.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SEEING A DENTIST

A dentist checks the health of a person’s teeth and gums and it is very important that a person visits on a regular basis. Usually, that is twice a year. The dentist can advise them on dental care so they know what needs to be done to make sure their oral health is up to par.

Once a person knows they have bad breath, they can readily combat it with the proper precautions. It is a good idea to carry an extra toothbrush and toothpaste in your vehicle if you travel a lot. This way, you can always be sure that your breath will be fresh when you need it to be.
